GERRANS GETS SET FOR PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Multiple grand tour stage champion Simon Gerrans is hoping to conquer his own Mt.Everest in the shape of Mt. Buninyong in the Mars national open road cycling competition on Sunday.

I’ve had some fine times and bad times at Mt. Buninyong, said Gerrans who is one of the few Australian bike rider to win stages of the Tours of France, Italy and Spain.

Monaco-based Gerrans, 30, initial tackle the national championship at Buninyong in 2002 and was victorious in the Under 23 division.
From four attempts since, his best presentation was a fourth placing to Victorian Matt Wilson in 2004.
